A week on the road.

Family, friends, and bulldog lovers we are chomping away at the kilometers. The Halfway Mark has been reached, we crawled up mountains , roared down the passes, camped in forests and made new friends along the way.

The Green machine hasn’t felt French soil beneath its wheels, not to mention the marathon it has been running the past week. We were losing tread on the front wheels with each kilometer. On our second day in France, the wheels were on its last tread. Driving through farmlands pushing to find a camping spot near a town, we spotted a camping sign. Camping Les Arbois had already closed up for the season, but Maureen and Ron, the owners, opened the gates once more. 13 years, they have invested in the property. A durtch family with hearts and hospitality of gold.

With all of their connections, we were able to get the bulldog a new set of front tyres and a skilled magician to shorten the front steering axel. All in a record time. We had the evening around a large bonfire sharing stories and making memories with our new friends.

With the wheel alignment sorted and a new set of front tyres, the bulldog was ready to hit the road. A misty morning allowed us to have a relaxed start, and our second flower had found the perfect home.

France, your countryside is magnificent! We camped in forests and we camped in a stone quarry. Our haywagon proving to be a perfect shelter for a good nights rest under European stars. We hit the road as soon as the visibility allows us to in the fresh mornings, and we drive chasing the last sun ray’s. Google Maps has been a little confused at times, as we are with the French, but her unpredictable routing has taken us through places we never would have thought existed. Le Mont Dore mountain range and pass have been a highlight of the past few days. Breath taking views and breath holding passes.

Mountain friends were made

As we drive further down south, we are winning with slightly longer daylight hours, and the temperatures are allot more tolerable. Today, we are taking it easy with a slow relaxed start and a little ly in as yesterday’s route was long, hectic, and super stressful.
